Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund
The Goelama model run by the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund aims to improve the well-being of orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs) through innovative community support and the strengthening of households, thus assisting them to achieve more sustainable livelihoods.
Goelama exists in six of South Africa’s nine provinces and reaches almost 60 000 children.
Within this broader project, 46664 specifically supports the Matchabeng Rape Intervention Care Centre and the Diketso Eseng Dipuo Community Trust (DEDI). DEDI focuses on community resource structures which send messages to the community on HIV and AIDS and its impact on children in the community. Matchabeng Rape Intervention centre provides services to the community in respect of child abuse victims, rape victims and victims of domestic violence.
