Does anti-retroviral therapy (ART) really keep you alive for longer, and for how long can you expect to live? How much do anti-retrovirals (ARVs) cost a month, and where are they available? Can you get them from a doctor?

How do you get free anti-retroviral treatment?

I have a domestic worker who is HIV-positive. So far her CD4 has been okay.
She has developed thrush in her mouth and stomach, which is being treated. Is
she entitled to free anti-retrovirals (ARVs) if/when she needs them as she cannot afford
them? I was told by her doctor they would cost about R700 a month. She is
the only breadwinner as her husband died last year of the virus. I try to
help as much as possible, but don’t think I can afford R700 a month. I look
forward to your reply.
