How often should one get tested?

I haven’t been at any risk but I was wondering: if I’m not sexually active should I get tested regularly or should it only be sexually-active people who get tested regularly?

Hi,

If you are not sexually active, it is not necessary to test for HIV.

Sexually-active people should test if they have had unprotected sex or if they believe that their partners may have exposed them to HIV. For example, a married person may decide to test regularly because he/she may not be using condoms in his/her relationship. People in relationships must test at least twice a year if they are not using condoms. It is also important that they talk about reducing risk in their relationships by being faithful and honest to each other about their sexual habits.
